What to Expect with a Floral Consultation

What to Expect with a Floral Consultation
Hey friend! I’m so glad you clicked on this blog post so you could learn a little more about what goes into a floral consultation! I think these are super important because it helps us get to know each other a little better, and the creation process just goes a lot smoother overall!

So, when a bride fills out an inquiry form on my website, she will promptly receive a questionnaire in her inbox with some extra information. Once that’s submitted, I send a link to my appointment calendar, where the bride can schedule their own time to sit down for a consult.  Consults are completely free, but there is a cancellation fee if the bride decides to cancel less than 24 hours before our scheduled consultation!

In-person consultations are so important! In a world where we’re soooo connected to technology, I never want to forget about the value of a face-to-face conversation. This really helps us get to know each other and vibe together! It’s so much easier and more personal to be able to connect this way and it truly helps me get a better feel for what a bride’s vision is.

So many of my brides travel from 2+ hours away! And I'm so grateful for them! Since we do not offer a full consult over the phone, we do offer a verbal estimate over the phone. This is usually just a casual, 10-minute phone conversation! I come up with a very general price based on the info a bride submits in the questionnaire.

When brides seem to be “price shopping” they will typically ask for a verbal estimate over the phone. To be totally transparent with you, I typically “estimate higher” during a phone conversation, because the phone conversation doesn’t give me as great of an understanding of what the bride is looking for, as opposed to an in-person consultation. So, sometimes my estimates given over the phone may seem on the higher end. But I would rather price high, and then have a bride come in for a consult only to realize that the price was lowered instead of the other way around. :)

A good rule of thumb is allocating 10%-15% of the overall wedding budget for flowers!
After an in-person consultation with me, brides can expect knowledge, professionalism, and a casual, fun conversation. I LOVE to meet and connect with brides, so I do my best to treat my brides like they are my girlfriends! Getting to know you is so fun for me and a lot of time, we do become friends!  So, we just sit and chat like we’re having a girls night. Since I’m in the same age bracket as many of brides, this comes naturally to both of us!
You can also expect to be served coffee, water, wine, or a mimosa ;)

During the consult, we sit down and chit chat for a minute then we get right down to business. I may be biased, but talking about your wedding flowers and the vision you have for your wedding is probably the most fun part about meeting vendors! ;) I usually have the bride’s Pinterest board pulled up on my laptop so we can go over that and figure out what you love and envision for your special day!

After about an hour to an hour and a half of going through the details, I’ll whip up a proposal based on our conversation, and then I will turn the laptop around to show an itemized list for the bride to review. From there, she has the option to think about it and let me know. If she decides to proceed (YAY!), I then explain the contract details and go over the payment process (50% non-refundable retainer fee is paid the day of booking and signing the contract). Once all of that is squared away, I give my brides a free gift to show them my extreme appreciation and excitement for them!

In-person consultations are valuable, fun, and sooo exciting! It gives us a chance to really nail the look you’re going for! If you’re ready to book a consultation, go to THIS PAGE on my website!
