Wedding Cake Ideas + Inspiration

Wedding Cake Ideas + Inspiration

One thing that we LOVE about our industry is that nothing is truly "traditional" anymore! Everyone has such different styles, and it's really fun to see couples do something totally different than what we've been "used to" over the years!

Couples have been breaking tradition by trying new styles and ideas with their wedding cake! When you think of a traditional wedding cake, you may picture a white, three-tiered cake with the little bride and groom fixures on the top. :) While we absolutely LOVE that, it's so fun to try something different that really fits in with your wedding party's flowers, the decorations, and your personality!

A true favorite at River Valley Designs would be the simple white cakes with a bit of texture and colorful blooms. But, you know we LOVE to play with colors, so using different colors of cake and accenting with complementing flowers really is a showstopper.

Wondering how we work in floral arrangements and colors with the cake?! We normally provide our flowers in buckets for the cake decorator! It's THEIR masterpiece, so we give them the honor of adding the final touches! Unless, for whatever reason, the bride prefers that we do it.

Another REALLY fun way that couples are breaking tradition is by NOT having a wedding cake. We've been to weddings where the bride and groom offer donuts, cupcakes, cheesecake, pie, cookies, or even an assortment of desserts INSTEAD of a wedding cake! Or, you could even have a small wedding cake if you want to do the traditional cake cutting, but offer some other fun desserts to your guests. Not only is this a really fun conversation piece, but it definitely gets people OVER to your dessert table because they'll want to check out all the different options!

So, with that being said... who wants to invite us to their wedding with an ice cream and cookies bar?!
