Upcoming Trends for 2019 Weddings

Upcoming Trends for 2019 Weddings
With every year that passes, I just love taking the time to reflect. I reflect on the goals I accomplished the year prior, what I need to improve on in the following year, and also… I can’t help but reflect on the wedding TRENDS! This is what makes my heart happy!

In 2018, peach, blush, burgundy, and eucalyptus were KEY. Soooo many brides loved this look, and quite frankly, I don’t blame them! These colors mixed with the beautiful tone and texture of eucalyptus is so complementary… they look beautiful together for weddings in any season! If you just take a quick look at my Facebook or Instagram page, you’ll notice how popular this trend was!

To go along with that beautiful color scheme, brides requested flowers for their special day using words like, “lush”, “garden”, “wild”, and “romantic”. When a bride says these words, let me tell you, she’s speaking my language! Those are the vibes I’m always yearning for! My motto is, “the more whimsical, the better!”.

Even though I would be totally down for these trends to continue in 2019, I have some slightly different visions based on what I’ve seen from industry leaders and wholesalers. Instagram is one of my favorite platforms to learn all about what’s “in” at the moment!

So, the Pantone Color of the Year (2019) is Living Coral. I absolutely see this being a key factor in not only weddings, but fashion, home decor, and so much more. It’s a beautiful tone in the peachy pink/orange category, and I see this paired with other warm colors, like reds, yellows, and oranges, to give off a very sunset-y feel!

Also, I’m seeing lots of MAUVE in the future for 2019. This has been a super popular choice amongst brides in the past, but I think the exact hue of mauve will be slightly changing this year. I envision a more earth-toned mauve as opposed to the more blush mauve that has been super popular recently.
Another color I see on the horizon is purple: mostly in lavender and plum. You truly can’t go wrong with any shade of purple, and it’s a color that signifies calmness, creativity, and royalty. I totally encourage brides to throw some purple in their arrangements! It’s such a great all-around color.

When thinking about other textures and pieces for 2019, I’m looking forward to lots of fun foliage! Mixing different textures, sizes, and colors together creates this beautiful conversation between the flowers! Think ferns, succulents, seed pods, and vining foliages. I’m even seeing tropical flowers being added to many bouquets and arrangements this year. Tropical flowers really take a traditional garden-style bloom to the next level!

I know neutral flowers tend to be popular at times, and they have a special place in my heart,  but I truly LOVE color! And having so many different elements in one design makes my heart sing. I am seeing many brides moving more towards a specific color palette or mood board instead of just choosing two colors! There’s absolutely nothing wrong with choosing two colors, but with so many pretty color palettes and mood boards on Pinterest, it’s easy for brides to get inspired by 4-5 colors and get really specific with their flowers!

If you’re trying to decide on your floral creations for your wedding this year, my advice is to keep an open mind. Be open to what your florist may suggest! We’re here for a reason! :)

So… who else is soooo excited for 2019 weddings?! I’m losing sleep over it! I just can’t wait for MANY of my friend's weddings, my customer’s weddings, and planning MY OWN wedding! Yay!

Here’s to a great year!

Xoxo,
Samantha
