How to Save Money on Your Wedding Flowers
I know it's sooo tough to stick within that budget you planned for your wedding. You're realizing how quickly everything adds up AND how many things pop up that you didn't originally plan for. So, this blog post is all about how to stick within your budget while being realistic and still coming up with flowers that you'll love and admire for years to come!
I know you may be in a tough spot right now. If you clicked on this blog post, you may be in the process of planning your dream wedding, but you’re quickly realizing how easy it is to go over your “budget”.
I’m here to encourage you! There may not be a ton of ways to cut costs on your food, music, or dress, but there are lots of ways that you can save money on your FLOWERS! And believe me, I want you to have your DREAM flowers that fit in your budget… which is totally possible with a few substitutions!
First and foremost, it’s important to be realistic about your wants and needs. This is where prioritization is key! If you dream about a bountiful, unique bouquet that you can hold walking down the aisle, an easy way to still get what you want, but keep costs down, is to cut back on the arrangements that your bridesmaids will carry. It’s YOUR DAY… so you get to decide what’s most important to you. That’s just one example!
Another great way to stay in budget is to REUSE!!! I cannot say this enough. If you REALLY want an arch full of flowers but you have a limited budget, we will find a way to reuse that piece at the reception. Perhaps you really want to dress up the church. So, you decide to splurge on your aisle decor. That can be easily reused for the cake or gift tables after the ceremony. We can get so creative with this, my friend!
Okay, let’s talk substitutions...
When it comes to the prices of boutonnieres, corsages, petals, etc., those flowers have prices that are typically set in stone. Now, bouquets and decorative flowers are where you can make substitutions to keep costs down. Normally, we have a base price for a bride’s bouquet, bridesmaids flowers, and certain decor, but these are the items that have a little more flexibility. The type of flower, size of the arrangement, and overall style are where we can be a little flexible with pricing.
Luckily, greenery is super affordable and it’s totally IN STYLE! And I really don’t think that trend is going away anytime soon! Different types of foliages and filler flowers are a great way to lower the cost of flowers.
When it comes to flowers, believe it or not, mums and carnations are totally making a comeback! Don’t worry… I’m not talking about your grandma's wedding bouquet. ;) Together, we can mix vintage, classic styles with trendy, new ideas to come up with some very creative pieces that you’ll love.
Affordable flowers, paired tastefully with some of the “fancier” flowers like garden roses and dahlias, create such a gorgeous look! It’s all about how they’re arranged.
Also, your florist (hi, that’s me! ;)), will help you determine what’s IN SEASON. I can’t stress this enough… this will be HUGE for staying in budget and creating something that fits with the overall vibe of your special day.
While I offer my brides lots and lots of ways to cut back on their flower budget, I want you to know that the price can only be lowered so much. Personally, I work soooo hard to provide my brides with the absolute best service and best quality of flowers available. My prices reflect that. Please know that there is so much work that goes into flowers that many people don’t see. It’s a major goal of mine to come up with something that YOU LOVE and something that fits the budget. And I promise to stay honest and transparent with you throughout the whole process.
This is why I work one-on-one with my brides so we can chat about all of the details and determine what’s most important to you. Once I show you the proposal, I want you to be super open with me about the price so we can work together to make changes if needed.
The best advice I can give is to sit down and make a list. I’m a TOTAL list person… who can relate!?! Before you make any wedding plans, make a guest list. This is the most important thing you will need when trying to create a wedding budget. After you make your guest list, then it’s time to list out your priorities. Do you want the fanciest dress? Do you want the most amazing food? Or do you want the most beautiful flowers that you can admire for years to come? Once you do this, you will find how much easier it is to make further plans.
Whatever part of the journey you’re in, just know that I am SO excited for you. I can’t wait to sit down and chat all things wedding flowers together! Head over to my contact form HERE so we can get started!
