We're so excited to continue with our blog series where we interview wedding professionals that we frequently work with! We LOVE sharing tips and inspiration around flowers but we REALLY love sharing other wedding planning tips and inspiration from other wedding professionals that offer something different than us! We're only interviewing wedding professionals we personally know or have worked with before, so you can trust these businesses have our "stamp of approval"! :) This time, we interviewed Jill from Candle Ready Cakes. Get ready for some serious cake and cupcake INSPIRATION here!
Introduce yourself! Share what you do and how long you’ve been in the wedding industry!
Hi! My name is Jill Takosky and I am the owner of Candle Ready Cakes. We specialize in specialty occasion cakes but also offer cupcakes, macarons, cookies, and cake balls. My brick and mortar shop has been around for 8 years but I made cakes out of my home for 2 years before that. So I have been decorating cakes for over 10 years now!
What’s your favorite thing about being a wedding professional?
I love seeing all the new trends and colors that our couples choose for their wedding and creating something that they will love. I also love connecting with other wedding vendors!
What’s your biggest tip for a bride and groom during the wedding planning process in general?
Don't take everything so seriously. Wedding planning can be extremely stressful but most of the time if something goes wrong or doesn't happen the exact way you want it, your guests won't even notice. They are there to witness your love for each other and maybe bust a move on the dance floor!
If you could change anything about your own wedding… would you? What would it be?
I got married last year and loved everything about our wedding! The only thing I would change is...during hair and makeup we got a little behind schedule and I was very nervous about our timeline. In the end we had plenty of time, so I wish I wouldn't have worried as much and just enjoyed the time getting ready with my bridesmaids and moms.
What is one way you help your couples stay within their wedding budget with your product/service?
We have options for ALL budgets, so the first thing I ask my couples is what their dream vision is. Then I give them an estimate for that and if it is too high then I advise them how we can adjust to still have a bit of their vision but also stay on budget.
Just saying... We'll take a "cupcake cheers" with one of Jill's speciality cupcakes over a cocktail cheers any day! :)
Thank you SO MUCH, Jill, for contributing to our blog and sharing your beautiful talents with us!
