5 Things I Wish I Would Have Known While Wedding Planning

5 Things I Wish I Would Have Known While Wedding Planning

Now that I've had a little time to reflect after my own wedding, I thought it would be fun to share a blog post (or multiple!) to help brides with the wedding planning process even more now that I've been through it myself!

There are 5 key things that I realized during the wedding planing process that I totally wish I would have known sooner. Hopefully learning from our lessons will help make wedding planning a little easier on you!

5 Things I Wish I Would Have Known While Wedding Planning

  1.  You need more help than you think. Always. If you're someone who loves to take charge and take care of things on your own, try your best to delegate unenjoyable tasks before, during, and after the wedding! It may be hard, but you will enjoy every moment of peace that you can get! And there is almost always MORE to do than you think of. :)
  2. You need less koozies than you think. Order half as many as you think. Seriously. And that's probably true for ALL personalized wedding favors!
  3. Not only do you need to prepare letters to your significant other and vows (if you're writing your own), but don't forget to write a little something to address your guests after the toasts. I wish I would have done this to thank our guests and all the help properly! They just handed us the microphone and we were deer in head lights. So, take our advice and prepare a little something short and sweet ahead of time to thank everyone.
  4. If you do not have a day of coordinator, an amazingly organized photographer is essential. I cannot even begin to explain how important our photographer was in making sure our day stayed on track. She was sooooo detailed and it made all the difference!
  5. The day is an absolute blur. Everyone says that, but I didn’t take it seriously. I am so glad we hired the photographer and videographers that we did because I am so confident that they captured everything that we might have missed. We're especially thankful for the videographer, because we now have video of things like first looks, reading letters, reading personalized vows, and all the emotion behind it! We are excited to be able to relive it! So, believe everyone when they say, "Take it all in" and "Try to live in the moment", because it truly does go by so much faster than I ever could have imagined. And THIS is why great photographers and videographers are so essential, in my opinion!

I'm sure more things will come to mind as the post-wedding blur begins to fade, so I'll be sure to share more tips on social media and in a future blog post for you! Wedding planning is quite the task, but if you do it right and you enjoy the process, it will be the most fun "plan" and party of your life. :)
