2021 Wedding Trends
Can you believe we're already looking ahead into the new year?! It seems like we were JUST writing the blog post for 2020 wedding trends! Obviously, since 2020 has been such a crazy, unexpected emotional roller coaster of year, many of our 2020 weddings have been postponed until 2021! So, the truth is, some of the "trends" we expected for this year will actually come to fruition for NEXT year! But that's totally okay, because we also believe that nothing is necessarily "traditional" anymore... Every bride has their own unique flair and vision, making every wedding beautiful and trendy in their own way!
However, here's what our brides are loving right now:
Downsizing on the guest list! Because of COVID-19, this is almost a requirement, but we're finding that many couples are feeling more and more comfortable with a smaller wedding anyway. This gives you more time to connect individually with each person and of course, it's more budget friendly! We'll have a full blog post on the benefits of microweddings soon! Stay tuned for that. ;)
With some of the 2020 weddings we were able to attend, it was standard to have masks and hand sanitizer at the entrance and scattered through the reception tables too. We wouldn't be surprised if this continues through 2021 as well!
Outdoor ceremonies and tent receptions! There are so many ways to make your outdoor weddings GORGEOUS with candles, greenery, plants, twinkly lights, and more. Not only is this a safer option for your guests, but a little fresh air never hurt anybody... right?!
Single-serve desserts! Cupcakes, and even unique self-serve items such as cheesecake bites, cookies, and dessert shooters are becoming more and more common. It's simple and safe for your guests to grab their own at their leisure, without creating a huge line at the cake table. Check out this gorgeous dessert spread from Candle Ready Cakes in one of our previous blog posts:
Weekday weddings! With 2020-2021 being a little bit of a crazy, unprecedented time, many people had to reschedule or come up with different options for their special day. We encourage you to be open-minded to something new you may need to try due to the current circumstances. Becky from Oak Hill Farm talked about this in one of our recent blog posts, too! Check it out:
One of the other trends we're predicting that we absolutely LOVE is going bigger and more voluminous on the flowers! Because couples may have to cut down on their guest list size, we've noticed that they may allocate more budget toward other items. Decor and floral always help set the vibe and gorgeous environment you envision for your special day.
Let's talk more specifically about flower trends we're predicting for 2021 weddings!
- While this isn't necessarily a "trend", there has definitely been an increase in brides who want whites and neutrals to take up the majority of their floral arrangements! And you know that we're a sucker for whites and greenery... so, we're not complaining about this one bit!
- We're also seeing that brides who love a bohemian, natural vibe are requesting dried elements in their florals! This is SUCH a great idea because they will last so much longer and it adds such a nice texture to your arrangements!
- We're also seeing lots of ceremony backdrops with a huge STATEMENT piece. This is such a gorgeous way to frame you and your spouse-to-be for photos and videos. Having a big statement piece on your arch or backdrop gives your guests such a beautiful view and helps focus all the attention on you two in the middle!
- Sun palms are huge right now! White or tan sun palms are absolutely gorgeous for bohemian, natural weddings but they can also be done in bright colors too! They're absolutely gorgeous, unique, and trendy and we're waiting for the day one of our brides requests these! They go along great with pampas grass, too. ;)
The truth is, no matter what style you like for your dessert table, your flowers, your guest list, menu, music, or anything wedding related... it will be absolutely perfect because that's what YOU want, bride-to-be. This is your day to bring your unique style and vision together to create a memorable environment on the best day of your life.
